Early College Program
Start College Now! Complete Early! Go Far!
Southwest Early College High School is a Texas Education Agency designated wall-to-wall early college high school and has partnerships with South Texas College and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for dual credit. Get started on college classes while enrolled in high school and earn as many as 60 credit hours towards a baccalaureate degree. You can begin enrolling in dual credit classes through STC as early as the second semester of your freshman year or through UTRGV at the end of your sophomore year. Who can participate?
Because of our wall-to-wall early college designation, every student enrolled at Southwest ECHS has the opportunity to participate in the early college program.

What type of degrees are offered?
Through the district’s partnership with South Texas College, students are able to earn most of the available Associate Degrees or College Certificates offered at the college. Visit with your child’s counselor to learn more about these degrees and select a plan that best fits your child’s interest.
