Principal's Message

Welcome to the web page for PSJA Southwest Early College High School, home of the mighty Javelinas!  I hope that you find all the information you are looking for on this page.  We are tremendously proud of our school and everything it has to offer to our students and community.  We are an early college high school, which allows us to provide opportunities for students to earn college credit while enrolled in high school.  Our partnerships with South Texas College and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley empower our students to complete high school graduation requirements and to get a head start on their post-secondary studies by earning an associate’s degree or at least 60 semester credit hours toward a baccalaureate degree.

Our career and technology programs of study help prepare our students for a career in their chosen field from 16 career clusters, including Health Science, Information Technology, Law & Public Safety, Marketing and STEM.  Students can earn dual credit in some CTE courses and have the opportunity to earn industry based certifications that align with several careers.  Our students participate in hands-on, field based learning within their pathways and finish high school with a solid foundation in their chosen field.  

The fine arts and athletics programs at Southwest are also top notch, with several students and organizations competing and winning at district and state levels.  Students can elect to participate in orchestra, band, choir, dance, drama and theatre, football, volleyball, basketball, track and field, softball, baseball, wrestling, tennis and powerlifting to name a few.
