About Us
PSJA Southwest Early College High School is a public school in Pharr, Texas serving grades 9-12. It is part
of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District and is one of the few wall-to-wall
comprehensive early college high schools in the Rio Grande Valley. Through its early college distinction
from the Texas Education Agency, every student at Southwest ECHS has the opportunity to enroll in
college courses as early as the second semester of their freshman year. Students receive guidance,
counseling and support every step of the way in order to graduate with both a high school diploma and
an Associates Degree from South Texas College.
Southwest ECHS has one of the largest and most successful Dual Language programs in Texas. Our Dual
Language program allows participating students to graduate both biliterate and bilingual in order to be
better prepared for today's global economy and work force. Our newest course offering is Mandarin
Chinese, which expands the literacy and language of our students to three languages.
Southwest ECHS offers a robust Career and Techonology program with course offerings in several pathways including Public Law, Health Science and Education. Students are immersed in both conceptual and practical training that provides them with a firm foundation for their chosen career.
Students are also encouraged to enroll in a wide variety of extracurricular programs to enrich their high school experience and to enjoy the school pride that comes with being a mighty Javelina. Our fine arts and athletics programs have beautiful facilities and excellent support systems that help them compete successfully each year.
